Assad Warns West that "Intervention would cause an Earthquake"

Earlier today Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad warned the west that if they intervened in his regime they risk an "Earthquake" that would "Burn the whole region".  This came from the first interview he gave to Britain's "The Sunday Telegraph".  In the mean time The Arab League entered talks with Syrian diplomats in hopes to engage Assad in a bid to stop the Syrian military forces' killing of innocent civilians.  However it has been difficult for international media to verify reports of the conflict from Syria and especially Damascus as most international media has been barred from the country.  In another report by the BBC News however it has become known that Vladimir Putin's Russian government has condemned the US government's call for Assad to step down saying that US intervention in the country could spark an all out civil war.  BBC News report here.
